In the spirit of the holiday season, St. David’s HealthCare is recognizing an important community partner devoted to helping families through a difficult time in their lives.
Hand to Hold, a local nonprofit, provides support and navigation resources to parents of premature infants and those who have experienced a loss. Bringing a premature baby into the world can be frightening and overwhelming, which is why Hand to Hold’s support navigators visit with families at their baby’s bedside to provide additional social and emotional support during a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) stay.
Next year, Hand to Hold is launching a new service called NICU Now, an audio support series for NICU families. The free podcast will eliminate physical and emotional barriers parents face in accessing and receiving psychosocial support. NICU families will be able to listen to informative and inspirational podcasts at their baby’s bedside and while they commute to and from the hospital. The podcast will be available in English and Spanish at HandToHold.org.
St. David’s HealthCare considers Hand to Hold an important part of the NICU team. The support the organization delivers to the families of our smallest and most vulnerable patients is immeasurable and greatly appreciated.
In addition to Hand to Hold, St. David’s HealthCare partners with many community organizations to make a difference in Central Texas and in the lives of those we serve. We are grateful for each of these and for their commitment to making our community the very best it can be.
