St. David’s Georgetown Hospital recently announced a $6.6-million capital investment for a significant Intensive Care Unit (ICU) expansion to begin in the summer of 2014.

“We are committed to providing exceptional care to our patients while growing with our community,” Hugh Brown, chief executive officer of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, said.

Upon completion in late 2015, the ICU will feature nine critical care beds, including two isolations rooms; additional state-of-the-art monitoring technology; new equipment to care for critically ill patients; space for five additional treatment beds; and an expanded ICU waiting room. With this effort, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital’s ICU will expand from 2,200 square feet to 11,500 square feet.

To accommodate this growth, the hospital will hire additional ICU nursing staff, registration staff and support personnel. Patient services will not be impacted during construction.
