A smartwatch alert led to a life-saving surgery for St. David’s HealthCare patient
Dr. Ray Emerson never knew he had a heart problem until his smartwatch alerted him that he had atrial fibrillation. Dr. Jason Zagrodzky, a cardiac electrophysiologist with the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute, performed an ablation procedure on Dr. Emerson at St. David's South Austin Medical Center in July. Dr. Emerson is now back at work full time at his veterinary clinic in Waco, where he has worked for 50 years.
